Who we are

Countermoves is the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at privacy@countermoves.app.

What we collect

• Screenshots you choose to upload. When you use Cook or Breakdown you pick images from your photo library. We never browse your library — the operating system shows you a picker and only what you select is sent to us.
• The text of those conversations, once transcribed, and the review we produce from it.
• Conversations you have in Arena, which are with software. The other side of an Arena conversation is not a real person.
• A display name you choose, used to keep your XP, rank and progress separate from anyone else's. There is no requirement that it be your real name.
• Your subscription status, so we know what you have access to. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your contacts, your location, your browsing history, your health data or your financial information. We do not use advertising or attribution SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

How long we keep it

• Uploaded images are deleted once your review has been produced. They are not retained for training, for analytics, or for any other purpose.
• Your reviews and your progress are kept while your account exists, so that you can look back at them.
• Ask us to delete everything and we will, within 30 days.

Who else sees it

To read a screenshot and grade a conversation we send it to Anthropic, whose models do the reading and the grading. They process it on our instructions and for no other purpose. We use no other third-party processor for your conversations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, and take it elsewhere. Email privacy@countermoves.app and we will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Age

Countermoves is rated 16+ and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete their data.

A word about other people's messages

Breakdown works on conversations you have had with other people. Please only upload conversations you were part of, and be aware that the other person did not agree to this. We use what you upload solely to produce your review, we delete the images afterwards, and we never publish them or show them to anyone else.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and we will tell you in the app if the change is significant.
